First boost for Afrique Créative : Back on Ouagadougou Bootcamp!

Through the different modules of the bootcamp, each entrepreneur was enabled to work on his/her company structuring by addressing the following questions:
> What is my company’s vision?
> How does my company make this dream come true?
> How can we generate sustainable income through our creativity?
> How to finance our ambitions in order to achieve them?
> How can we have even more impact in the future and scale up with Afrique Créative?

Speakers from all over the continent (Burkina Faso, Congo, Senegal, Uganda, Ivory Coast) shared their knowledge and experiences and stimulated debates around various themes such as :
> The value chain in the Cultural and Creative Industries;
> The business model and digital marketing;
> The sales pitch: selling your product or service to a customer;
> Intellectual property: trademark and copyright protection;
> Investments: assess your financing needs and prepare your fundraising;
> Impact measurement.

Interactive workshops and group exercises provided peer reinforcement. Entrepreneurs highlighted the richness of the exchanges within the cohort, particularly the interactions between Francophones and Anglophones. An evening of sharing with Alif Naaba, a very socially committed musician artist, was an opportunity for each participant to testify about the obstacles encountered and the ways to overcome them and pursue even more “crazy” dreams!

In addition, the entrepreneurs had the opportunity to discover the dynamism of the creative field in Burkina Faso: not only through a visit to the granite sculptures of Laongo, but some of them also attended the “Folies de mode” show of Bazem’Se (one of the incubated entrepreneurs), and took part in various cultural events such as the Ouaga hip-hop festival or the Sculpture Biennale.

A workshop on “Challenges and needs of cultural and creative entrepreneurs”, open to CCI stakeholders in Burkina Faso, closed this intensive week. This participatory workshop identified themes on which to work to facilitate creative entrepreneurship.
This bootcamp marks the beginning of a journey that promises to be very colourful!
